The Overland Automobile Company was an American automobile manufacturer in Toledo, Ohio. It was the founding company of Willys-Overland and one of the earliest mass producers of automobiles.[1] Purchased in 1908 by John North Willys, it was best known for its design and production of World War II–era military jeeps (MBs), Willys M38 and M38A1 military jeeps as well as civilian versions (Jeep CJs).

1903 - Overland Automotive Division began.
1908 - Overland purchased by John North Willys (not Willy's)
- renamed Willys-Overland Motors
1940s - developed the 'Jeep' of World War II fame.
1950 - Willys-Overland is granted a registered trademark for the "Jeep" name
1953 - Willys-Overland purchased by Kaiser Motors.
