Overview[]
The WCDES is a countywide agency that handles many duties, including: 911 dispatching & emergency communications (known as 60 Control), operating haz-mat & technical rescue teams, providing fire protection to the nearly 400-acre Grasslands county government complex in Valhalla (including a large hospital & associated medical school, a water treatment facility, the county's bus and public works garages, a prison, and many other smaller buildings), operating the county's fire training academy, providing an ALS flycar paramedic intercept service, assisting with fire investigations, and acts as the county's emergency management agency.
