Area Served[]

The West Sacramento Fire Department (WSFD) provides fire protection and emergency medical services for the city of West Sacramento, formerly known as Washington, Bryte, and Broderick, and now also known as West Sac, located in Yolo County, northern California. The city is separated from the larger city and California state capital Sacramento, by the Sacramento River, which also separates Sacramento and Yolo counties. West Sacramento, (Sacramento is Spanish for "sacrament", encompasses an area covering 22.8 square miles, and has a population of approximately 48,744.

Mutual Aid[]

WSFD provides and receives automatic aid to/from the Sacramento Fire Department, the Davis Fire Department, the Woodland Fire Department, the Dixon Fire Department, the Clarksburg Fire Protection District, the Elkhorn Fire Protection District, and the University of California Davis Fire Department

Department Profile[]

The West Sacramento Fire Department is comprised of 65 full-time career firefighters, organized into three 48-hour shifts of 17, staffing five first due engine companies, one first due aerial ladder company, and one incident command vehicle out of five fire stations. West Sacramento FD also cross staffs three Type-3 wildland engines, including one from the California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services (OES), 1 Type-5 wildland unit, 1 water tender, three rescue/boat units. The department responded to a total of 10,592 calls for service in 2021.
