West Grey Fire Department

Area Served

In addition to operating its own fire department, West Grey also participates in the joint operation of Grey Highlands Fire and Emergency Services. Fire protection is also purchased from the Elmwood and Area Fire Department, Hanover Fire Department and Mount Forest Fire Department.

Dispatch services are provided by Owen Sound Police Services Communications Centre.

History

West Grey was formed through the 1998 amalgamation of the Village of Neustadt and the Townships of Bentinck, Glenelg and Normanby. In 1998, the Town of Durham was added to West Grey.

The following fire departments were merged to form the new West Grey FD:

• Ayton Fire Department
• Durham & District Fire Department
• Neustadt Fire Department
