History[]

The Manchester Volunteer Fire Department was formed in 1908 with the first pieces of equipment purchased in June of that year. The Manchester Fire Protection District was formed on October 10, 1961. In 1983, the Manchester FPD took over firefighting services for the City of Town & Country. In February 1996, the district officially changed its name to the West County EMS & Fire Protection District.
