History[]
The University Endowment Lands Fire Department was formed in 1927 to protect Electoral Area A, which includes the University of British Columbia campus that borders the western edge of the City of Vancouver. Electoral Area A does not have it's own Council and is governed directly by the BC Provincial government through the BC Buildings Corporation. The UEL Fire Department was amalgamated into Vancouver Fire and Rescue Services by Provincial government order on October 16, 1995.
