The Trenton National Trailer Company (or TNT) was an American fire apparatus manufacturer located in Trenton, New Jersey.
History[]
The Trenton National Trailer Company was originally founded, as the name suggests, as a company that made trailers; alongside other commercial truck & van bodies. It is unknown when the company was first founded, but they started making fire apparatus in 1953, after joining up with the James B. Hunt Company; a local distributor of fire equipment (as well as a sales agent for Ward LaFrance, and later Maxim).
It's estimated that over the span of 18 years, Trenton made about 50 fire trucks and 50 ambulances, all on commercial chassis; before the company closed up in 1971. Most of the units were sold in New Jersey, with a few going to Pennsylvania and Delaware. Some units were also sold under the Kutz (for George Kutz, the owner of the company) or Huntco names.
