Charles Thibault was a blacksmith and a mechanic that operated a small shop at 80, rue Augusta in Sorel. His shop mostly built horse carriages but with the years, Charles Thibault started to make horse-drawn ladders tenders, trailer pumps, and sprinkler trucks. Those types of equipment were built under the name Pompes incendie C. Thibault. In 1937, Charles decided to stop the production of fire equipment in his shop but the following year, his son, Pierre, asked him to join Richelieu in Pierreville.
