Overview[]
The Teaneck Fire Department is a career fire department that employs around 93 uniformed personnel and 2 civilian support members protecting a population of about 41,000 residents in an area of approximately 6.24 square miles.
Teaneck FD is supported by the Box 54 Club canteen service located at Station 2.
History[]
The Defender Hook & Ladder Company was formed 1895, The Upper Teaneck Volunteer Firemen's Association was formed in 1904, Cedar Hill Volunteer Firemen's Association was formed in 1907, Teaneck Hose Company No. 1 was formed in 1911, Glenwood Park Volunteer Firemen's Association was formed in 1911, The Teaneck Fire Department was formed in 1915. They started using paid firefighters in 1920 when they hired a driver for a pumper. They became a fully paid department in 1940.
