Department Profile[]
The Stewartsville-Chamblissburg Volunteer Fire Department is a volunteer fire department located in an unincorporated area of Bedford County, Virginia known as Stewartsville. The department was founded in 1959 and operates out of two fire stations. The main fire station is located in the Stewartsville area and a substation is located in the Chamblissburg area. The department covers over 150 square miles and provides mutual aid to other parts of Bedford County, as well as, Roanoke County. One major roadway, VA Route 24, travels through the Stewartsville area. The department is staffed solely by volunteers and responds to an average of 300 calls a year.
