History[]
The District was formed from the combination of a few agencies, including the Parkville Volunteer Fire Department, formed in 1901. In 1950, the Parkville Fire Protection Association was formed and in 1974 the association was dissolved to create the South Platte Fire and Rescue Department. The first vote to form the fire district failed and in February of 1976, the second vote to form the Southern Platte Fire Protection District passed.
