Area Served[]
The South River-Machar Fire Department protects the Village of South River and surrounding Township of Machar. The two municipalities have a combined population of 2070 people and area of 186.76 square kilometres. The department also covers portions of the Township of Joly in conjunction with the Sundridge-Strong Volunteer Fire Department. The area contains several cottages and the population doubles in the summer.
