History[]

On November 4, 2008 voters approved the merger of Pend Oreille County Fire Protection District No. 1 (Camden) into Pend Oreille County Fire Protection District No. 3 (Diamond Lake) with 324 "yes" votes to 107 "no" votes.[1] The merger was effective on January 1, 2009.[2]

On February 3, 2009, voters approved the merger of Pend Oreille County Fire Protection District No. 7 (Fertile Valley) into Pend Oreille County Fire Protection District No. 3 with 84 "yes" votes to 71 "no" votes.[3] The merger was effective on May 1, 2009.[4]

On November 5, 2019, voters approved the merger of Pend Oreille County Fire Protection District No. 6 (Furport) into Pend Oreille County Fire Protection District No. 3 with 406 "yes" votes to 51 "no" votes.[5] The merger was effective on January 1, 2020.[6]

On November 8, 2022, voters approved the merger of Pend Oreille County Fire Protection District No. 8 (Spring Valley) into Pend Oreille County Fire Protection District No. 3 with 287 "yes" votes to 57 "no" votes.[7] The merger was effective on January 1, 2023.[8]
