South Huron was formed through the amalgamation of the Town of Exeter, Township of Stephen and Township of Usborne in 2001. As a result, the following fire services were amalgamated:

Future Plans[]
The Municipality of South Huron called RFPs for design and contract administration in September 2024 for the construction of a new fire station in Dashwood. The new building will replace the existing hall.
