South Frontenac Township was formed through amalgamation in 1998. The following fire departments were merged to form the new South Frontenac Fire Service:

Future Plans[]
The Department began changing to a new apparatus striping scheme in 2024. It consists of a black stripe bordered by yellow stripes. This will be applied to most apparatus not due for replacement.
