History[]
The village of Bassin-de-Chambly, also known as Chambly Bassin, was created in 1855. The town changed its name to Chambly on October 25th 1952. On September 18th 1965, the town of Fort-Chambly was annexed to Chambly. The town of Fort-Chambly was simply called Chambly from 1848 to January 23rd 1952. Both towns, Chambly Bassin and Fort-Chambly, were operating distinct fire departments before the amalgamation.
Apparatus from Bassin-de-Chambly were lettered Chambly Bassin while apparatus from Fort-Chambly were lettered Chambly Canton or Fort-Chambly.
