The Section Prévention des Incendies de la STM was created in 1975 following the 1971 and 1974 fires in the Métro. Fire inspectors are responsible for conducting fire inspections in the subway system and other STM buildings, training STM and emergency personnel and responding to emergency or non-emergency calls at STM facilities.
