About[]

The Santa Clara County Central Fire Protection District operates as the Santa Clara County Fire Department.

Area Served[]

The District boundaries encompass 132 mi2 of Santa Clara County. This boundary includes the cities of Cupertino, Los Gatos and Monte Sereno. It also includes a portion of Saratoga. The district is responsible for unincorporated lands in western Santa Clara County and unincorporated "islands" inside the corporate limits of the City of San Jose.

Contract Service[]

The district has contracts with the cities of San Jose and Milpitas for the provision of service to unincorporated "islands" in their jurisdiction, and to the lower eastern foothills. The district provides service to the Cities of Campbell and Los Altos under contract. The district also provides service to the Los Altos Hills County Fire District and to the Saratoga Fire Protection District under contract.

History[]

The Santa Clara County Central Fire Protection District was formed in 1947. On July 1, 2025, the South Santa Clara County Fire District was annexed into the Santa Clara County Central Fire Protection District.
