Overview[]

The Rutherford Fire Department is a volunteer organization that protects a population of approximately 19,000 residents over an area of around 2.89 square miles.

History[]

Union Truck & Bucket Company No. 1 was formed in 1875, Rutherford Fire Engine Company No. 2 was formed in 1886 and West End Engine and Hose Company No. 3 was formed in 1890.
