The Ranger Division of the American Modular Body Company was formed in 1975 in Smithfield, Rhode Island. The company started with extruded aluminum ambulance bodies and gradually moved into fire equipment under the Ranger name. Trucks were built on both commercial and custom chassis, mainly for departments in New England and the northeast US. Ranger purchased ambulance manufacturer Yankee Coach in 1988. Operations ceased in 1991.
