Quality Manufacturing Inc. was an American fire apparatus manufacturer located in Talladega, Alabama.
History[]
Starting in 1962, Quality was a heavy equipment repair and refurbishing business. They began rehabbing military fire equipment.
In 1976, Quality started building new pumpers, tankers and other fire trucks on commercial chassis. Within years, Quality also built trucks on custom chassis and ladders trucks with Aerial Innovations Inc. and RK Aerials.
From the mid 1980s until their bankruptcy in 1992, Quality was owned by the Union City Body Co. In 1997, the company was purchased by Spartan Motors Inc. of Charlotte, Michigan. Spartan also acquired Luverne Fire Apparatus of Brandon, South Dakota. Between 1997 and 2003, Quality and Luverne continued to sell trucks independently, each serving a different geographical area.
In 2003, Spartan Motors merged Quality and Luverne into Crimson Fire, a new subsidiary company.
