History[]
The Passaic Fire Department was formed in 1869 when Passaic Engine Company No. 1 was formed, Dundee Engine Company No. 2 was formed in 1874, McLean Engine Company was formed in 1874, Alert Hook & Ladder Company was formed in 1885, Linden Engine Company in 1887 and Howe Engine Company in 1894. They started using paid firefighters in 1909.
