The US Air Force P-22 is a Type 1 Structural pumper. It is one of the apparatus that makes up all 5 of the Core vehicle sets. The P-22 has been in continuous use since at least 1992. The 1990s version was a custom chassis with steel body and had a GVWR of 42 000 lbs. It carried a 1250 GPM pump, 600 USG of water and 55 USG of foam concentrate. The apparatus was updated for the new millennium with an all aluminum cab and body, a 1250 USGPM pump, 750 USG tank and 2 foam concentrate cells versus the 1 previous. The newest iteration which entered service in the mid-2010s upgraded the pump to 1500 USGPM

The P-22 is substantially similar to the P-24 but for the fact that it is a 4x2 vehicle chassis.



The P-22 has as a minimum carriage of;

  • 1000 ft of 3 inch fire hose,
  • 800 ft of 1 3/4 inch fire hose,
  • three 1-3/4 inch fire nozzles,
  • one 24 ft ground ladder,
  • one universal adapter,
  • two 2-1/2 inch double male adapters, and;
  • two 2-1/2 inch double female adapters.
