Firefighting Wiki

History[]

In 1993, the area covered by the OLVFD was annexed by the City of Vernon. The department continued to operate under contract with the City until 2012, when the city announced its intention to end its contract with OLVFD and bring the station and equipment under the direct jurisdiction of Vernon Fire Rescue Services as of February 2013. Most OLVFD members voted to retire rather than join the Vernon department.
