The Municipality of North Grenville was created in 1998 through the amalgamation of the Town of Kemptville, Township of Oxford-on-Rideau and Township of South Gower. The area was served by the Kemptville Fire Department, which changed its name to North Grenville Fire Service in 2012.
North Grenville has automatic aid agreements with Edwardsburgh-Cardinal Township Fire Department for the southeast corner of the municipality, and Merrickville Fire Department in the west.
