History[]

In 1930, the department began with 12 volunteers. The department was incorporated into the Riverview Gardens Volunteer Fire Department in 1931. During World War II, in 1944, the department was reorganized into the Riverview Fire Protection District. In 2014, Riverview Fire Protection District absorbed the personnel, station and trucks of the Jennings Fire Department. In January of 2021, the name was changed to North County Fire & Rescue to better represent all of the communities the agency serves.
