History[]
The Sun City West Fire District was formed in 1981 and initially contracted with Rural/Metro for firefighting services. In 1994, the district ended the contract and hired its own employees.
The district was renamed North County Fire & Medical District sometime in the early 2010s. In 2016 it consolidated with Wittmann Fire District and amalgamated with the South County Fire & Medical District to form the Arizona Fire & Medical Authority in 2017.
