History[]

In 1963, the City of Niagara Falls was amalgamated with the adjoining Township of Stamford, making the Stamford Township Fire Department part of the NFFD.

In 1970, Niagara Falls expanded again as part of the municipal restructuring that created the Region of Niagara. The Village of Chippawa, Township of Willoughby and part of the Township of Crowland were amalgamated with Niagara Falls. The Chippawa Fire Department and the Willoughby Township Fire Department joined the city department.
