Area Served[]

The Nevada County Consolidated Fire District (NCCFD) provides fire protection and emergency medical services for the unincorporated rural areas within Nevada County which includes the unincorporated communities of Alta Sierra (including the Alta Sierra Airport), Banner Mountain, Banner Lava Cap, Cascade Shores, Gracie, North Bloomfield, Quaker Hill, Scotts Flat, as well as the Highway 49 Corridor, all located in the western foothills of the Sierra Nevada mountain range, in Northern California. The District is governed by a seven-member Board of Directors. NCCFD encompasses 143 square miles of residential, commercial, industrial, and rural areas, and serves a population of approximately 32,000+ residents within its geographical boundaries.

Mutual Aid[]

The Nevada County Consolidated Fire District has mutual aid agreements with the CAL FIRE Nevada-Yuba-Placer Unit, the Grass Valley Fire Department (California), the Higgins Fire Protection District, the Ophir Hill Fire Protection District, the Peardale-Chicago Park Fire Protection District, the Penn Valley Fire Protection District, and the Rough and Ready Fire Protection District.

The Nevada County Consolidated Fire District is budgeted for 36 sworn personnel (1 fire chief, 1 division chief, 3 battalion chiefs, 1 fire marshal, 10 fire captains, 5 fire lieutenants, and 15 firefighter/operators) and 6 non-sworn staff (1 fire prevention officer II, 2 fleet mechanics, 1 administrative services manager, 1 finance assistant and 1 administrative services assistant). The district consists of 4 staffed/district-owned fire stations, 1 fire station (Rough and Ready Fire Station 59) jointly staffed with Penn Valley FPD, and 5 un-staffed district-owned fire stations.

History[]

The Nevada County Consolidated Fire District was formed in July 1991, after the Bullion and Gold Flat Fire Protection Districts merged. This was followed in in January 1993 when the Alta-Oaks-Sunset Fire District consolidated with NCCFD, followed by the Watt Park Fire Protection District in January 1998, and the 49er Fire Protection District in October 2003.
