Area Served[]

Naval Air Station Patuxent River, also known as NAS Pax River, is a United States naval air station located in St. Mary’s County, Maryland, on the Chesapeake Bay near the mouth of the Patuxent River. It serves as a center for test and evaluation and systems acquisition relating to naval aviation, and is home to Headquarters Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR), the US Naval Test Pilot School, the Atlantic Test Range, and the Patuxent River Naval Air Museum. On April 1, 1976, Patuxent River's airfield was named Trapnell Field in honor of pioneering aviator Vice Admiral Frederick M. Trapnell (July 9, 1902 – January 30, 1975), a former commander of the Naval Air Test Center at the base. The station also operates a small outlying field, NOLF Webster, located 12 miles southwest of the NAS Pax River complex, adjacent to the small community of St. Inigoes, MD, and used for the development of electronic avionics.
