History[]
The Town of Nanticoke was formed in 1974 as part of municipal restructuring, combining Port Dover, Waterford, Jarvis and parts of the townships of Rainham, Townsend, Walpole and Woodhouse. The Nanticoke FD was formed through an amalgamation of the following fire departments:
- Jarvis Fire Deparment
- Port Dover Fire Department
- Townsend Township Fire Department near Waterford
- Walpole Township Fire Department in Selkirk
- Waterford Fire Department
A subsequent 2001 round of restructuring dissolved the town and the fire department was split between the new Haldimand County Fire Department and Norfolk County Fire and Rescue Services.
