
Overview[]
The Morristown Fire Departments is a combination career/volunteer fire department. The career firefighters are on duty 24/7. They employ around 32 career firefighters and 22 volunteers who protect a population of just over 20,000 residents in an area of 3 square miles.
History[]
In 1867 the Independent Hose Company, Board of Fire Wardens and Washington Engine Company were formed. In 1869 Resolute Hook & Ladder Company and Niagara Steamer Company were formed. The Niagara Steamer Company was disbanded in 1881. In 1882 Humane Engine Company was formed. The First Ward Hose Company was formed in 1898.
