Overview[]
The Mint Hill Volunteer Fire Department was organized in 1952 as a volunteer agency providing fire and rescue services in Mint Hill and the surrounding unincorporated areas of Mecklenburg County, North Carolina. In 1974, the department also began providing medical transport (ambulance) services for the Town of Mint Hill In 2019, those EMS responsibilities were turned over to the County's EMS provider MEDIC.
As of 2021. the department is a combination department, with 27 full time employees, supplemented by part time and volunteer staff. The department operates from a single station and covers most, but not all of the Town of Mint Hill. The Idlewild Volunteer Fire Department also covers a section of the Town. The department has an ISO rating of 2 and responds to more than 5,000 calls for service per year.
