The McMahon Plant (also known as the Taylor Complex) is a natural gas fired co-generation processing plant near Taylor, British Columbia. The plant was opened in 1957 by Westcoast Transmission Co. Ltd., a Canadian company founded in 1949 by Frank McMahon. In 1987, Westcoast Transmission Co. Ltd. was renamed Westcoast Energy Inc., and in 2002 Duke Energy of Charlotte, North Carolina, acquired the company in a deal worth US$3.5 billion. The natural gas pipeline business was later spun off as part of Spectra Energy, which merged with Enbridge in 2017.
