Area Served[]

Marathon Fire Rescue provides fire protection and emergency medical services for the city of Marathon, consisting of a series of keys (islands) in previously unincorporated areas of Monroe County known as Marathon, Marathon Shores, and Grassy Key, located off the southern coast of Florida. Via the Overseas Highway / U.S. Route 1, the City of Marathon is located some 50 miles northeast of the City of Key West and some 54 miles southwest of the City of Key Largo. The name Marathon dates back to the origin of the Florida East Coast Railroad and was the name of the local railroad station. Incorporated on November 30, 1999, the city encompasses an area covering 9.28 square miles and serves a population of approximately 9,689.

Marathon Fire Rescue has mutual aid agreements with Monroe County Fire Rescue, Islamorada Fire Rescue and the Key West Fire Department.
