History[]

The Municipality of Lambton Shores was formed in 2001 through the amalgamation of the Town of Forest, the villages of Arkona, Grand Bend and Thedford and the Township of Bosanquet. The following fire departments were located within the boundaries of the new municipality:

The individual departments continued to operate independently for several years after amalgamation. A fire chief for the entire municipality was hired in 2018.

In July 2024, LSFES introduced a new numbering system for apparatus. The format is alpha-numeric, starting with LS (Lambton Shores) followed by a two digit number. The first digit is the station number, the second digit is apparatus type:

  • 1 - Pumper
  • 2 - Tanker
  • 3 - Rescue
  • 4 - Pickup
  • 5 - Pumper/Tanker
