Area Served[]

The Lakeport Fire Protection District (LFPD) provides fire protection and emergency medical services to the City of Lakeport, as well as to certain unincorporated areas outside the city, located on the western shore of Clear Lake in Lake County, some 125 miles northwest of the City of Sacramento. Incorporated as a city on April 30, 1888, the fire district has a population of approximately 10,000 residents and encompasses an area covering 45 square miles. The Fire District is governed by five board of directors appointed by either the Lakeport City Council or the County of Lake Board of Supervisors.

Mutual Aid[]

The Lakeport Fire Protection District, through a boundary drop dispatch agreement, has mutual aid agreements with neighboring fire districts including the CAL FIRE Sonoma-Lake-Napa Unit, the Lake County Fire Protection District (California), the Northshore Fire Protection District (California), and the South Lake County Fire Protection District.

Department Profile[]

The Lakeport Fire Protection District is a combination department, consisting of both career and volunteer firefighters, and is budgeted for fifteen full-time career staff includes the fire chief, three fire captain/paramedics, three firefighter/paramedics, six firefighter/EMT’s, one civilian administrative assistant and one civilian office assistant. They are augmented by nineteen volunteer firefighters. Daily staffing consists of four career fire personnel. The district's resources include two fire stations (one of them currently unstaffed) and fourteen front-line emergency apparatus. These are comprised of three type 1 structural engine companies, one ladder truck/quint company, two wildland interface companies (one type 2 and one type 3), one water tender, two ALS ambulances, one utility truck, two rescue water craft, one all-terrain vehicle, and one chief/command vehicle. Lakeport Fire District responds to over 2,400 calls annually, with over 80% consisting of EMS calls.

History[]

The Lakeport Fire Department was formed in 1894 to provide fire suppression services within the City of Lakeport proper. In 1956, the Lakeport County Fire Protection District was formed to protect the unincorporated areas of Lakeport. In 2000, the Lakeport County Fire Protection District merged with the Lakeport Fire Department, thereby forming the Lakeport Fire Protection District.
