History[]
Established in 2021 in Comox, BC, Lak’was Wildfire Water Service Ltd. was formed to provide contract water services to the BC Wildfire Service and local municipal departments. Water is supplied to wildfire crews and structural protection units deployed during the wildfire season. Additionally, the service provides dust prevention and suppression services on unpaved roads. Lak'Was is an Indigenous owned and operated service, employing Indigenous community members from across the Comox Valley and Campbell River regions.
