Department Profile[]
The Laidlaw Volunteer Incident Response Team Society (LVIRTS) is not a typical fire department or fire brigade. It was formed following the Community Emergency Response Team model used by FEMA and other government entities to promote community resilience when the usual response options may be limited by weather, disaster, or other circumstances. Laidlaw experienced this when it was isolated from the rest of British Columbia by the 2021 Atmospheric River Events.
Community Profile[]
Laidlaw is an unincorporated community in the Fraser Valley Regional District Area B, in British Columbia. Fire protection is provided by the nearby Popkum Volunteer Fire Department, in Fraser Valley Regional District Area D, with mutual aid from the Hope District Volunteer Fire Department.
