The La Habra Heights Fire Department provides fire protection and emergency medical services to the City of La Habra Heights, a suburban canyon community located in the eastern San Gabriel Valley of Los Angeles County, adjacent Orange County, in Southern California. La Abra is Spanish for "The Opening" and refers to the "Pass Through the Hills," The city was incorporated on January 20, 1925, encompasses an area covering 7.56 square miles, and serves a population of 60,239 citizens. La Habra Heights is bordered by the unincorporated suburban community of Hacienda Heights to the north, the unincorporated community of Rowland Heights to the northeast and east, the City of Fullerton in Orange County to the southeast, the City of La Habra in Orange County to the south, and the City of Whittier to the southwest and west.

Department Profile[]
La Habra Heights has a combination fire department that provides 24/7 365 staffing and consists of full-time/sworn staff (fire chief, deputy fire chief, fire captains, and an administrative assistant), in addition to a part-time/on-call staff (training chief, EMS chief, fire captains, and firefighter/paramedics), augmented by a number of volunteer engineer/driver operators and firefighters. Minimum staffing consists of two engine companies, with Engine 71 being an Advanced life support (ALS) company, and Engine 72 operating as a Basic Life Support (BLS) company, from a single fire station located behind City Hall on Hacienda Road.
