Overview[]

The Joplin Fire Department serves an area of approximately 50 square miles having a daytime population of 300,000. The City is protected by a daily, on-duty strength of 30 members and 7 administrative personnel.

History[]

Joplin Volunteer Fire Department was established in 1882. In 1893, it was replaced with a full-time staffed department.
