Isa Air Base, formerly known as Shaikh Isa Air Base, is a Royal Bahraini Air Force station located on the 240-square-mile island nation of Bahrain, The base, built with US assistance in 1990, is located 6.0 miles south of Jaww on the shore of the Persian Gulf in southern Bahrain and hosts the RBAF Fighter Wing and the two squadrons that comprise it. On October 22, 1991, Bahrain signed a ten year bilateral agreement, expanding the US military presence in Bahrain. The agreement expanded US prepositioning in Bahrain, and the US now has several warehouses of prepositioned equipment and supplies at Isa Air Base which has also been hosting US Air Force and US Navy aircraft on a rotational basis. The USAF host unit at Isa AB is the 379th Air Expeditionary Wing Detachment 1.

Aircraft rescue and firefighting (ARFF), structure firefighting and emergency medical services for Isa Air Base is provided by the 379th Expeditionary Civil Engineer Squadron / Isa Fire Department, a subordinate unit of the 379th Civil Engineer Group, comprised of military firefighters.
