History[]

The International DuraStar/4000 Series was a line-up of medium-duty trucks in production by Navistar, Inc. from 1995 to 2020. The successor with the International MV Series.

Generation 1 (1995-2001)[]

4000 Series[]

  • 4700 - Class 5 to 7
    • - 4x2 single axle
    • - hydraulic brakes
  • 4800 - Class 6 & 7
    • 4x4 single axle
    • - hydraulic brakes
  • 4900 - Class 7 & 8
    • - heavier frame
    • - air brakes
    • - available up to 6x4 drive configuration.

Generation 2 (2002-2020)[]

4000 Series (2002-2008)[]

  • 4100 - Class 5
    • - hyrdraulic brakes
    • - introduced for 2006 model year
    • - discontinued for 2007 model year
  • 4200 - Class 5
    • - replaced the 4700
    • - 4x2 single drive axle
  • 4300 - Class 6 to 8
    • - replace 4900
    • - 4x2 single drive axle
  • 4400 - Class 6 to 8
    • - replaced 4900
    • - heavier frame than 4300
    • - 4x2, 4x4 and 6x4 drive configuration

DuraStar Series (2009-2020)[]

The DuraStar Series replaced the 4000 Series model names with the model name DuraStar and sub-models with numbers.

  • 4200 - Class 5
    • - 4x2 single drive axle
    • - production ceased end of 2007 model year
  • 4300 - Class 6 to 8
    • - 4x2 single drive axle
    • - production ceased end of 2020 model year
  • 4400 - Class 6 to 8
