Navistar, Inc. is an American holding company created in 1986 as the successor to International Harvester Corporation. Navistar operates as the owner of the International brand of trucks and diesel engines. On July 1, 2021, Navistar became a wholly owned subsidiary of Traton; Traton SE, known as the Traton Group (formerly Volkswagen Truck & Bus AG), is a subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group and one of the world's largest commercial vehicle manufacturers,

International has been and continues to be in common use for commercial chassis fire trucks. Historic models used by the fire service include the CargoStar, LoadStar and 4900. The DuraStar series (4200, 4300 and 4400) and WorkStar Series (7400, 7500 and 7600) were also quite common. Two new lines were introduced in 2019, the HV which succeeded the PayStar and the MV which succeeded the DuraStar.

The brand is still most often referred to as International and is referred to as such throughout the Fire Wiki.
