History[]

INVISTA's Maitland, Ontario site was opened in 1953 as a DuPont Canada Inc. facility. Today, it is a producer of hexamethylene diamine and adipic acid essential for the production of Nylon 66 - only one of 5 facilities worldwide to produce these intermediates. It also once housed the Dupont Fire School.
