History[]

The Huron Park Fire Department was one two (originally three) separate fire departments serving the Township of Stephen in southwestern Ontario.

Huron Park is a residential community that was formerly part of Royal Canadian Air Force Station Centralia. The base, previously covered by the RCAF Station Centralia Fire Department, was closed in 1966 and the operation turned over to the Province of Ontario. The provincial government funded seven full-time firefighters at the site until 1975, at which point residents opted to form a volunteer department rather than pay for continued protection by full-timers.

The nearby Centralia Fire Department merged with Huron Park in 1978.

Other portions of Stephen Township were protected by the Dashwood & Area Fire Department, Exeter & Area Fire Department and Grand Bend Fire Department.

In 2001, Stephen Township was amalgamated with the Town of Exeter and the Township of Usborne to form South Huron, and the Huron Park FD became Station 16 of South Huron Fire Department.
