History[]

Howick Township was previously involved in the operation and management of the Wingham Area Fire Department through the Wingham and Area Fire Service Board. The fire station in Gorrie was opened in the 1990s as part of the Wingham FD. The Fire Board was dissolved in 2009 as part of the formation of the Fire Department of North Huron and Howick Township formed its own department.
