History[]
Howard Township surrounded the Town of Ridgetown and shared a building with the Ridgetown Fire Department. The township was amalgamated with the other municipalities of Kent County to form Chatham-Kent in 1998. The fire department became part of Chatham-Kent Fire & Emergency Services.
