The Holtville Fire Department provides fire protection and emergency medical services for the City of Holtville, formerly known as Holton, located 124.6 miles east of the City of San Diego and 50.3 miles west of Yuma, Arizona in the Imperial Valley of Imperial County, southeastern California. The city lies on the northeast bank of the Alamo River, one of two rivers that flow north from Mexico into Imperial County. Holton was renamed as Holtville by the postal authorities to avoid confusion with Hilton, California and/or Colton, California. Named after its founder William Franklin Holt (January 18, 1864-1951), and incorporated as a city on July 1, 1908, Holtville encompasses an area covering 1.16 square miles and serves a population of approximately 652,503. Holtville is bordered by the unincorporated community of Sandia to the north-northwest; the unincorporated community of Date City to the east-southeast; the City of Rico to the southwest; and the City of El Centro to the west.

The Holtville Fire Department has mutual aid agreements with the Imperial County Fire Department, the El Centro Fire Department, the Calexico Fire Department, and the CAL FIRE San Diego Unit.
Department Profile[]
The Holtville Fire Departments is budgeted for one fire chief and four full-time firefighters, augmented by eleven (11) reserve / paid call firefighters operating out of a single fire station. Daily staffing consists of three on-duty personnel. Holtville responded to 973 calls for service in 2020, the majority of which were medical calls.
