History[]
Highlands East was created in 2001 through the amalgamation of four townships in central and eastern Haliburton County. All four townships operated their own fire departments, which were amalgamated to create the new fire service. They were:
- Bicroft Township Fire Department
- Cardiff Township Fire Department
- Glamorgan Township Fire Department
- Monmouth Township Fire Department
